How it works

What metadata does this remove?

Re-encoding the image through your browser's canvas discards all embedded metadata β€” EXIF, the GPS coordinates where a photo was taken, camera make/model, timestamps, and any editing history. The visible picture is unchanged; only the hidden data is dropped.

Why does that matter?

Photos straight from a phone often embed the exact GPS location and device details. Sharing them online can leak where you live, work, or travel. Stripping metadata removes that trail.

Is anything uploaded?

No. Everything runs locally in your browser β€” the file never leaves your device, so it's fully private and works offline once the page has loaded.
